Martin T:son Engstroem
Martin T:son Engstroem is the founder of the Verbier Festival and Academy in Switzerland. As the Executive Director since 1994, he has built the annual classical music festival in the Swiss Alps into one of Europe’s leading events with its own resident orchestra, the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, which he co-founded with UBS in 2000.
Prior to 1994 he worked as an independent music consultant for clients such as EMI France and Erato Film Productions. From 1975 to 1987 he helped launch and develop the Opera et Concerts agency in aris, representing artists such as Barbara Hendricks, Jessye Norman, Birgit Nilsson, Renator Bruson, Kari Bohm, Bernard Haitlink and Guiseppe Sinopoli. In November 1999, he was appointed Vice President Artists & Repertoire at Deutsche Grammophon.
